Monday Must-Have - Peaches & Kream

Today marks a new installment of my Monday blog series titled Monday Must-Have. Each Monday I will feature a fellow talented Etsian and his or her phenomenal work. Each featured artist will have his or her own online Etsy shop where you can peruse and admire his or her one-of-a-kind body of work. Hopefully you will find new favorite artists and artisans whose work you MUST HAVE. :)

Today's featured artist is Peaches & Kream.

Who are you (actual name/and or shop name)?

My name is Rue Kream, and my shop is Peaches & Kream.

What do you create?

My main creative outlets right now are making sterling jewelry, often incorporating everyday or re-purposed components, and making needle-felted items. I also like to crochet, play with paper, and write.

Where are you located?

I live in Massachusetts.

When did you start creating?

I started creating when my kids were young. They’re 16 and 12 now. I never thought of myself as creative, but watching them dive fearlessly into any craft project that came their way made we wonder if maybe there wasn’t some creativity lurking in me too.

Why did you choose your shop name?

When we moved to our current house nine years ago we inherited an old peach tree. It yielded an incredible amount of fruit, so I gave myself a crash course in canning, and my sister made me some “Peaches & Kream” labels for my jars.

What inspires you?

I’m inspired by anything with great color or balance. There’s lots of that in nature, of course. Mostly, though, I just do whatever my hands tell me.

What is the most time consuming part of your craft?

Needle-felting is incredibly time consuming. Each of my little dolls takes 6-8 hours to complete.

What is your favorite place to visit in your hometown and why?

My favorite place in our town is the park down the street from my house. It’s beautifully kept, and it’s big enough that even when there are other people there you can find a spot to be alone. Just sitting on the riverbank fills me up in some indescribable way.
What's your next project going to be?

We’re working on a family studio space. I’m very excited about it, because currently our supplies are spread out wherever we can find a spot for them. Designing rooms to be beautiful and functional is one of my favorite things to do, so I’m having a great time. I’m looking forward to each of us having a spot to work while still being in the same space.

What do you do when you are not creating?

First and foremost, I’m a mom. My kids don’t go to school, so we spend our days together, following our interests and learning alongside each other.

Be sure to check out Rue's Etsy shop and peruse her fantastic handmade items. If you're interested in being featured in future Monday Must-Have segments, please feel free to convo me in my Etsy shop or email me. Have a wonderful day!
